My Take

What draws me to Azofeifa is the arc from playmaker to coach. A 182 cm midfielder out of San José who suited up for Costa Rica, he chose the unselfish craft of orchestrating play rather than chasing goals, and that quiet intelligence is exactly the kind of game-reading instinct that translates beautifully into coaching. Central American football runs on heart, and reaching its top level demands real talent. I admire that he stayed in the game, now pouring his vision into younger players. The midfield artisans rarely get the spotlight, but in my book they hold the whole team together. He earns my respect.
