My Take

What impresses me most about Raven-Symoné is staying power. Plenty of child stars flame out, but she went from a toddler on The Cosby Show to carrying her own hit series and later sitting at the table on The View. Five consecutive NAACP youth awards is not luck, it is range. I read her Academy of Art education as a sign she takes craft seriously, and I appreciate that she refused to be boxed into cute. Acting, singing, dancing, voice work, candid commentary, she does it all. To me she is a model of how to grow up in public without losing yourself.
