My Take

Rebecca Ferguson is my favorite kind of movie star: the late bloomer who arrived fully formed. Hollywood only discovered her in her thirties, after years of Swedish television and modeling, and that seasoning shows in every frame. As Ilsa Faust she did the near-impossible, stealing a Mission: Impossible film from Tom Cruise through sheer poise. What fascinates me is her specialty in controlled power, women like Lady Jessica in Dune whose stillness is more threatening than any action sequence. She carries a cool Scandinavian gravity into American blockbusters without ever diluting it, and I find that restraint genuinely rare.
