My Take

Rick McCallum is exactly the kind of behind-the-scenes figure I admire. As George Lucas's right hand on the Star Wars Special Editions and prequels, plus The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, he carried enormous, technically punishing productions on his shoulders. His earlier work with Dennis Potter shows real range too. Directors and stars soak up the credit, but I think producers who actually keep these sprawling machines running deserve far more recognition. Balancing art, budget and temperament at that scale takes a kind of nerve I find quietly heroic.
