Rick Overton

Rick Overton is exactly the sort of multi-hyphenate I find endlessly impressive. Born in Queens, he acts, writes, and does stand-up, and the Emmy he won for writing Dennis Miller Live tells me his comedy is built on real intelligence, not just timing. I love that he kept turning up in big crowd-pleasers like Willow and The Rocketeer while also shaping jokes from behind the scenes. Performers who can both deliver a laugh and architect one tend to last, and he has. Still working decades on, Overton embodies a durable, restless comic spirit, and that kind of staying power earns my genuine respect.
