Robbie McIntosh

What strikes me about Robbie McIntosh is the rare gift of being indispensable while rarely standing in the spotlight. Anchoring the Pretenders, then spending years at Paul McCartney's side, and later turning up as John Mayer's sideman tells me everything: this is a musician whose tone other great players trust. I admire careers built on craft rather than fame. Decades on, he is still playing sessions, and there is a quiet dignity in that kind of longevity. He is the sort of guitarist whose name fans recognize the moment they hear the part, and I respect that deeply.
