Rohit Shetty

Rohit Shetty is unapologetic popcorn cinema, and I respect him for it. A Mangaluru-born director who fuses action comedy with the masala tradition, he builds those gloriously over-the-top sequences where cars somersault through the air. Highbrow critics may roll their eyes, but filling theaters and sending audiences home grinning is genuinely hard work, and his background as a stuntman gives his set pieces a tactile, lived-in energy. I value filmmakers who commit fully to entertainment without pretension. When I want pure, gut-level fun rather than something cerebral, Shetty is exactly the kind of director I reach for, and that clarity of purpose deserves credit.
