My Take

Ronny is, for me, a perfect emblem of football's capacity for the singular spectacular moment. The Fortaleza-born midfielder is remembered worldwide less for a trophy cabinet than for a free kick so ferociously struck it became legend. He moved from Sporting CP to Hertha BSC and never fully nailed down a star's role, yet there's something I find quietly admirable about a journeyman who kept fighting across Europe. One thunderous strike was enough to lodge him permanently in fans' memories. I love that the sport leaves room for that: a single contact of boot and ball can outlast a thousand tidy careers.
