My Take

Ruben Fleischer announced himself with Zombieland, a film that nailed the tricky tone of being scary, funny, and genuinely heartfelt all at once, which is much harder than it looks. He has since become a dependable hand for big studio swings like Venom and Uncharted, the kind of director who can wrangle effects-heavy spectacle while keeping a sense of fun intact.
