Rusty Wallace

What I appreciate about Rusty Wallace is the full arc: twenty-five seasons of hard racing, then a clean pivot to the broadcast booth and team ownership. The black No. 2 he ran for Penske, nicknamed Midnight, is one of those cars that fans still picture instantly, and that staying power says something. Plenty of drivers are fast; far fewer can explain the sport with the clarity Wallace brought to commentary. I respect athletes who understand their craft well enough to teach it, and his second act behind the microphone proved his racing instincts were matched by genuine insight.
