Sakahoko Nobushige

I'll be honest, sumo is the kind of sport I respect more the longer I watch it, and a wrestler like Sakahoko Nobushige is exactly why. Picture a Kagoshima kid, born in 1961, stepping into the dohyo against guys built like refrigerators, and instead of just shoving back he digs in, hangs on, and flips the whole thing at the edge with pure technique and stubbornness. That's connoisseur sumo to me, the stuff that makes you lean forward instead of just cheering for the big crash. He came up in that Showa era that quietly laid the foundation for everything the sport is now, and he left us in 2019. I never met the man, but reading about him I just feel like nodding, pressing my hands together, and saying thanks for the work.
