My Take
Esmail is one of the few showrunners whose camera language I trust completely. Mr. Robot wasn't just well written; its off-center framing physically reproduced a fractured mind, and that fusion of NYU film theory and on-set obsession is rare. Writing and directing his own work, he refuses to outsource his vision, and Leave the World Behind showed the same patient dread on a wider canvas. What I admire most is his willingness to make audiences uncomfortable on purpose, withholding reassurance as a kind of respect. He assumes you can handle ambiguity, and that faith in the viewer is, to me, his real signature.
