My Take
I have a lot of respect for what Samantha Bee built. Coming out of Toronto and McGill, she became the longest-serving correspondent on The Daily Show, then took the genuine risk of launching her own late-night show in a field that rarely made room for women. Political satire done well demands sharp intelligence and real nerve, and she has both. What I value most is her willingness to turn anger into something funny and pointed rather than just loud. Her Canadian Comedy Awards feel earned. To me she is a comic with conviction, not just punchlines.
