My Take

I have enormous respect for what Samisoni Viriviri pulled off. Rising from Nadi, Fiji to be named World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year in 2014, after topping the series in tries scored, is no small feat for an athlete from a small island nation. Then signing with Montpellier in France's Top 14 shows he could carry that explosive flair to the toughest stages. The bio fields here are sparse, but stats matter little next to the memory of a man tearing through defenders. He turned raw island speed into world-class artistry, and that earns my quiet applause.
