Sasha

Sasha, born Alexander Coe in Bangor, Wales, is essential to any honest history of modern club culture. Being voted World No. 1 DJ by DJ Magazine in 2000 confirms the status, but the numbers undersell what makes him special to me. He never just hyped a crowd; he took dancers on a journey, shaping a night into something with narrative arc and emotional build, especially in his legendary partnership with John Digweed. He is a craftsman who turns a single evening into a feature-length film of sound, and I hold the architect of progressive house in genuine reverence.
