My Take
Scout Taylor-Compton, born Desariee Starr Compton in Long Beach, is one of those child actors who grew into something more interesting than a typical Hollywood arc. After early runs on Gilmore Girls and Charmed, she stepped into Laurie Strode for Rob Zombie's Halloween films and earned a real place in the scream-queen lineage. People underrate that work, but selling genuine terror is hard; the audience has to feel it with you. What I admire most is the range underneath: she also writes and performs music. A horror lead with a songwriter's ear is a combination I'll always root for.
