My Take

Seo Ji-hye is one of those actresses who can steal an entire drama out from under the leads without the audience even noticing it's happening. Her turn in Crash Landing on You as the sharp-tongued rival who slowly reveals layers of genuine feeling was a masterclass in doing a lot with what could have been a thankless role. She started out in horror with Voice back in 2005, and honestly that early genre work probably explains why she can hold tension so well — there's always something simmering underneath the surface with her. Whether it's the emotional weight of 49 Days or the political bite of Punch, she picks projects with real substance and then proceeds to be the best thing in them.
