My Take

Seydou Doumbia's journey is the kind I find genuinely moving. From Abidjan, he passed through the Ivory Coast and, unusually, Japan before reaching Europe in 2008. At Young Boys he was top scorer and player of the year in the Swiss Super League in both of his seasons, a striker who simply found the net wherever he went. I have a soft spot for forwards whose whole identity is the goal, and his Japanese chapter makes him feel closer to home for me. A 179cm finisher who built a career on pure instinct deserves more recognition than he usually gets.
