My Take

Shahid Kapoor is my favorite kind of star: the one who refuses to stay in the lane that made him famous. He could have spent an entire career as the charming romantic lead, but he kept gambling on darker, riskier parts, and the gambles sharpened him. You can see the dancer's training in everything he does — the precision, the physical control, the rhythm he brings to a scene. Three Filmfare Awards and a permanent spot among India's highest-paid actors suggest the industry agrees with me. If someone asks where to start with contemporary Hindi cinema, his filmography is one of the first doors I point them toward.
