My Take
I have a soft spot for Shane Jacobson because he turned an unglamorous premise into something genuinely moving. As Kenny, the good-natured plumber hauling portable toilets, he could have played for cheap laughs, but instead he won the 2006 AACTA Best Actor award by finding real dignity in an ordinary working man. That tells you everything. He hosts, he voices, he carries films, yet he never seems to be performing for prestige. I value performers who make warmth look effortless, and this Essendon-born everyman is one of the most likeable talents Australia has produced.
