My Take
Shondrella Avery is one of those performers whose face you remember long before you recall the name, and that is a compliment. A Los Angeles native trained at an arts high school and Cal State LA, she works across acting, modeling and comedy with an ease that reads as instinct. Her LaFawnduh in Napoleon Dynamite is a small role she turned into something genuinely iconic, and her support work in Domino and The Secret Life of Bees shows real range. I respect careers built on memorable presence rather than trophies; lingering in an audience's memory is its own kind of award.
