My Take

Stanley Tucci is my favorite kind of actor: the one who makes everyone else better. From Prizzi's Honor onward he has specialized in roles that could be forgettable and simply aren't, because he plays them with wit, precision, and an obvious love of craft. The Emmys and Golden Globes confirm what any viewer can feel — when Tucci appears, the scene tightens. Add the screenwriting, the producing, and his famously serious devotion to Italian food, and you get a complete man of taste. I would happily watch him read a menu. Character actors rarely receive this much public affection, and he has earned every last bit of it.
