My Take

Stef Nijland interests me precisely because he keeps playing far from the spotlight. A 187 cm Dutch forward born in Hoogezand, he is still chasing goals for Derde Divisie side DVS '33 well into a long career. I have always believed the volume of attention a player gets has little to do with how much they love the game, and Nijland reads to me like someone who simply wants to keep competing.
