My Take

There's something irresistible about a 203 cm pitcher who reached a Yankees mound, and Ridings is exactly that kind of long-shot story. A Haverford College graduate from Huntington who briefly touched the majors in 2021, he represents the thin, brutal margin between the minors and stardom. I'm drawn to careers like his precisely because they're fragile, big arms whose moment can be derailed by injury before it fully blooms. Even so, the sheer fact of standing on that pinstriped hill is no small thing. To me, a short career glimpsed at the highest level still deserves real applause.
