My Take

Howey has a real gift for playing the lovable goofball without making him a cartoon, and his Kevin on Shameless is the perfect example, a big sweet doofus who somehow held a lot of the show's heart. Going back to Reba, he was already showing that easy comic charm, the kind of presence that makes an ensemble feel warmer just by being in it. He's never been the prestige-drama name, but he's exactly the type of dependable, likable performer that keeps shows watchable week after week. I'd argue he's underrated; give him a meatier dramatic role and I think he'd surprise people.
