Stoya

Stoya interests me less for any single role than for her refusal to be boxed in. She built a name in adult film, then expanded into mainstream acting and, more compellingly to me, into writing a sex-advice column for Slate under her own byline. That move from being looked at to being read takes nerve and intelligence. I respect people who insist on controlling their own narrative across mediums that rarely talk to each other. The North Carolina native treats her platform as something to expand rather than defend, and that quiet authorial confidence is what makes her genuinely worth following.
