My Take
Sujoy Ghosh interests me because he proves Indian cinema is far wider than its musical reputation suggests. With a Manchester education and Kolkata roots, he carved a niche in taut, intelligent thrillers when convention pushed toward spectacle. Kahaani earned him a National Film Award for screenplay and a Filmfare directing prize, and I respect that he won acclaim through craft and restraint rather than noise. To me he represents the storytellers quietly modernizing Hindi film from the inside, and I always pay attention when his name appears on a project.
