Takeshi Tomizawa

Takeshi Tomizawa looks like someone you would cross the street to avoid and turns out to be one of the gentlest men on Japanese television. Born in Itabashi, Tokyo in April 1974, he met his partner at a commercial high school in Sendai, and they have been the duo Sandwichman ever since. Decades with the same guy is nearly unheard of in comedy. Their M-1 victory, arriving through the losers' bracket, is still the tournament's great underdog story, and his deadpan "I have no idea what you are talking about" can flip an entire room. What I respect most is the Tohoku relief work the two of them have quietly kept up for years. Make people laugh, then help without announcing it.
