My Take

Tami Stronach holds a special place in my heart purely because of one role: the Childlike Empress in The NeverEnding Story. That ethereal, otherworldly performance at age eleven defined a whole generation's childhood, mine included. What I find genuinely admirable is the path she took afterward. Tehran-born and pushed into early fame, she stepped away from the spotlight after some uncomfortable attention and reinvented herself as a dancer, choreographer and now filmmaker and teacher. I love that she returned to performing on her own terms as an adult. It's a quietly inspiring story of someone reclaiming her art and her identity.

Overview

Tami Stronach (born July 31, 1972) is an actor, dancer, filmmaker, and professor. A childhood performance as the Childlike Empress in the 1984 film The NeverEnding Story led to a record deal and music video in Germany. After receiving inappropriate attention as a young star, Stronach pivoted to dancing.
