Tamzin Outhwaite

Tamzin Outhwaite is the kind of performer I respect more the longer I look at her career. Coming out of Ilford and training as a dancer, she turned Mel Owen into one of EastEnders' most memorable characters, and the fact that the BBC brought her back nearly two decades later tells you the role left a real mark. Her award recognition and her range across stage, drama and presenting reveal a working actor's durability rather than a flash of fame. I value that staying power; it is far rarer and harder won than overnight stardom.
