Tavito Nanao

I'll be honest, Tavito Nanao is one of those artists I love precisely because he refuses to sit still. The name itself, "traveler," feels like a thesis statement, and being a Kochi kid I imagine all that wide Pacific sky soaked into his voice somewhere. He gets filed under singer-songwriter, but that tag undersells him hard, because he's just as likely to hand you a quiet, almost whispered acoustic confession as he is to detour into looped, sprawling, genre-melting experiments that don't care about your expectations. That's the thrill for me: you never quite know which Tavito shows up. There's a stubborn, do-it-his-own-way independence here that I find genuinely moving, the slow-burn kind of artist whose warmth sneaks up and gets you when you least expect it. I'm a fan of people who just keep walking their own road, and he clearly is one.
