My Take

Sylvia was the towering heavyweight of an era when the UFC was still finding its identity, and at 6'8" he used that reach like a problem opponents couldn't solve. His title run gets unfairly forgotten, but he was genuinely dominant for a stretch. Of course, fans remember the Randy Couture comeback fight and the infamous Fedor knockout that lasted all of 36 seconds, which is a brutal way to be immortalized. Still, I have a soft spot for big men who can actually box, and Sylvia could. He's a fascinating relic of a transitional MMA period that doesn't get enough respect.
