Nobuhiko Takada

I have a real soft spot for Nobuhiko Takada. Picture this towering Yokohama-born guy, 183 centimeters of pro-wrestling charisma, who was such a star in the ring before he took the leap into legit mixed martial arts and put himself on the line against the toughest fighters of his era. That's a guy who earned his aura the hard way, and you can feel it in how he carries himself. What gets me, though, is the contrast: this hardened fighter shows up on TV with that deep, gravelly voice and a warm, easygoing grin, totally approachable, almost gentle. I love that gap. Total class.
