My Take

Timo Glock will forever be tied, for me, to one of the most dramatic moments in Formula One history. The German driver, who raced for Toyota and so was familiar to Japanese fans, was the man struggling on the wrong tyres in the final corners of the 2008 Brazilian finale, letting Lewis Hamilton snatch the title at the last possible second. Through no fault of his own he became an unforgettable supporting character in that script. He scored podiums and finished tenth in the championship in both 2008 and 2009. Being at the dead centre of a moment where history pivots is its own strange legacy.
