Toby Fox

Toby Fox is, to my mind, one of the most quietly radical creators in modern games. With Undertale he didn't just make a charming RPG, he questioned the medium's whole assumption that violence is the point, building a game you can finish without harming a soul. That he composed the music, designed the systems, and wrote the script largely himself is staggering, and the soundtrack alone would secure his place. You can trace his singular voice back to his Homestuck days, that mix of humor and aching sincerity. The fervor surrounding Deltarune tells you everything: a small-scale developer wielding outsized cultural magic.
