My Take
Manga artists occupy this quietly fascinating lane where your face, your voice, your whole physical presence is basically irrelevant — what matters is the line you draw and how you pace a panel, and Toshiya Wakabayashi clearly gets that. He stays out of the spotlight even with an anime adaptation to his name, which honestly suits the type: a craftsperson who builds entire emotional worlds from a desk and lets the pages do all the talking. With Tsuredure Children, which became a 2017 TV anime, as a signature title, there's clearly a warmth and a lightness to what he makes, and that's the kind of voice that quietly earns a loyal readership one chapter at a time.
