My Take

What grabs me about Trick Williams is the reinvention. A former football player out of Columbia, South Carolina who pivoted into pro wrestling and clawed his way to the top of WWE is the kind of arc I respect. Two NXT title reigns, an NXT North American run, and now the United States Champion on SmackDown — that is not luck, that is a performer who learned a brand-new craft late and mastered the mic and the moment. Crossover athletes rarely stick, let alone thrive. I find myself rooting for him precisely because the path was so unlikely, and I think his ceiling is still rising.
