Trippie Redd

Trippie Redd interests me as a restless shapeshifter. Born Michael Lamar White II in Canton, Ohio, he helped push emo rap and rage forward, bending trap into something rawer and more emotional. Coming up through a local high school, he turns grief and anger into sound, and that willingness to bleed on the track is exactly what makes him hard to ignore. At 168 cm he is not physically imposing, so his power lives in emotional range and unmistakable tone. Born in 1999, he is still young and still volatile in the best creative sense. I keep watching because I never quite know what he will do next.
