My Take
Usher is one of those artists who genuinely defined what R&B sounded like for an entire generation — and I don't throw that around lightly. From his self-titled debut at just 15 years old through the absolute commercial and artistic peak of Confessions in 2004, he kept proving that the combination of a world-class voice, elite-level dancing, and sharp songwriting instincts is basically unbeatable. Rolling Stone ranking him among the greatest singers of all time and Billboard calling him one of the greatest pop stars of the 21st century isn't hyperbole — it's just accurate. His Hollywood Walk of Fame star and back-to-back Grammy wins feel like natural punctuation marks on a career that's never really coasted. The guy earns everything he gets.
