Valerie Leon

Valerie Leon fascinates me because she straddled two very different worlds with ease. Six Carry On comedies demand impeccable timing, while two James Bond films, opposite both Roger Moore and Sean Connery, demand pure screen presence. Few performers can do broad comedy and sultry glamour equally well, yet she carved a memorable niche doing exactly that. She was rarely the lead, but she had the rare gift of owning every frame she appeared in. That she still maintains an official presence today tells me she values her legacy. To me, she represents the unsung character players who quietly defined an era of British cinema.
