My Take
Victoria Beckham is my favorite case study in reinvention done with discipline. Plenty of pop stars attempt fashion; almost none survive the industry's snobbery, let alone earn an OBE for it. I find the arc from Posh Spice to respected designer genuinely instructive: she took relentless mockery, said little, and let the work answer. The famously unsmiling image strikes me as armor for a sharp, self-aware businesswoman who understood branding before the word was everywhere. Whatever you think of the Spice Girls' music, her second act required more nerve than her first, and I rate nerve very highly.
Overview
Victoria Caroline, Lady Beckham (née Adams; born 17 April 1974), is an English fashion designer, singer, and television personality. She rose to prominence in the 1990s as a member of the pop group the Spice Girls, in which she was nicknamed Posh Spice. After the Spice Girls disbanded in 2000, Beckham signed with Virgin Records to release her debut solo album Victoria Beckham, which produced two UK Top 10 singles.
