Vinny Appice

Vinny Appice is one of those drummers who keeps showing up at the center of rock history, and honestly that's no accident — the guy simply hits hard and fits perfectly into the heaviest rooms in the genre. Growing up in Brooklyn and coming from the Appice drumming bloodline (his older brother Carmine is a legend in his own right), Vinny carved out his own massive identity through stints with Dio and Black Sabbath, including the Heaven & Hell era alongside Ronnie James Dio. His playing is pure thunder — not flashy for flash's sake, but locked-in and brutally powerful in exactly the way those bands demanded. Every time you hear those Dio records, the drums feel like a force of nature, and that's Vinny doing his thing.
