My Take

Wade Davis at his peak was about as close to unhittable as a reliever gets. The stretch he had with the Royals from 2014 to 2015 was the stuff of legend, a string of scoreless outings that seemed to defy the laws of the sport. What I love is that he started as a struggling starter and reinvented himself into a shutdown closer, finding a second life in the bullpen. Watching him slam the door in those Royals playoff runs was pure tension and release. When he was locked in, you could basically chalk up the save before he threw a pitch.

Overview

Wade Davis is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher born on September 7, 1985, in Lake Wales, Florida. He is best known for his dominant run as a relief pitcher with the Kansas City Royals, where he was a key part of the team's 2015 World Series championship. A multiple-time All-Star, Davis was widely regarded as one of the most dominant closers in baseball during his peak years.
