Fei

Fei, born Wang Feifei, took an unusual route as a Chinese performer who debuted in the Korean group miss A in 2010 and became one of its most recognizable members. I find her career a neat snapshot of how porous Asian pop borders became, training and breaking through in Korea before pivoting back to mainland China after 2018. miss A had real bite in songs like Bad Girl Good Girl, and Fei brought a confident, sultry presence to the lineup. Her solo path in China has been steadier than spectacular. Still, navigating two demanding industries across a language barrier takes serious resolve.
