My Take
I've got a soft spot for guys like Yabuta — the unglamorous relief arms who never get the highlight reels but quietly decide ballgames. A 183cm righty out of Kishiwada, Osaka, that hard-nosed festival town, he just reads as the kind of pitcher who lives for the seventh and eighth innings, swallows the pressure, and gets the job done without theatrics. There's something I really respect about a journeyman bullpen guy who grinds long enough in Japanese pro ball to earn a shot abroad — that takes stubbornness, not just talent. I picture him stepping onto the mound, exhaling slow, and trusting his stuff. Hitters get the magazine covers, but it's arms like his that hold a season together. Honestly, that's my kind of hero — the dependable one nobody notices until he's gone.
