My Take
I find Yolanda Hadid far more compelling than the reality-TV label suggests. A Dutch girl from tiny Papendrecht who built careers as a model, interior designer and businesswoman, then raised two of the most recognizable models on earth in Gigi and Bella, she clearly has both taste and tenacity. Reality cameras flattened her into a character, but what draws me in is the discipline underneath, including the way she faced serious illness with composure. To me the Hadid sisters' success is no accident, and I suspect Yolanda's aesthetic eye and sheer will shaped far more of it than she gets credit for.
