Yū Serizawa

Yu Serizawa sits in a category overseas fans often misread. She belongs to the idol voice-acting group i☆Ris, which makes it easy to file her under singer who also does anime. The 2019 Seiyu Award for Best Supporting Actress argues otherwise, since that prize is given for performance, not record sales. What impresses me is the arithmetic of the job. Recording sessions, live shows, choreography, and a voice that has to survive all of it. Born in Tokyo in 1994, she has kept that schedule for years, and what reaches the audience is only ever the bright side of it.
