Zarine Khan

Zareen Khan interests me as a Bollywood figure who arrived with real nerve. Stepping straight into a lead role in 2010's Veer and earning a debut-award nomination is no small entrance for a former Mumbai model. Her glamorous turns in Ready and Housefull 2 brightened the screen, but what I respect more is her reach beyond Hindi cinema into Punjabi films, where she has been recognized as well. Plenty of actresses can carry the dazzle of an item number; far fewer keep building a career on their own terms afterward. That persistence is what makes me want to root for her.
