My Take
Zhou Xun strikes me as one of those rare performers who act with their eyes before they ever open their mouth. Becoming the first Chinese actor to sweep the Golden Horse, Hong Kong Film and Golden Rooster awards in a single year isn't luck, it's the proof of a range most actors only dream of. She can read as delicate or dangerous in the same scene, sings, models, and still finds time to earn a Champions of the Earth award. For me, the trophies matter less than her uncanny ability to vanish into a role. She's a genuine treasure of Chinese cinema.
