My Take

21 Savage is, to me, the most interesting passport in hip-hop. The man who became shorthand for Atlanta's coldest street rap was born in Plaistow, East London — and somehow that contradiction deepens rather than undermines his credibility. It proves what I have always believed about rap: authenticity lives in what you survived, not where you were stamped at birth. I also respect the grind beneath the menace; three independent mixtapes built his name before any major machine got involved. His near-whispered, deadpan delivery turns restraint into a weapon, and few artists in any genre make doing less sound so heavy.
